Winter is here... and it’s time to refresh your wardrobe and your makeup routine.

This winter sees style merge with comfort. Think oversized tailoring (paired with sneakers), lounge wear, and heavy knitwear of every kind (from sweaters to maxi dresses).

Whilst ‘barely there makeup’ will continue to complement the comfy threads, we’ll also see some more adventurous looks, as 60s and 70s glamour comes back with a vengeance. Think glowing skin, statement eyes and polished hair.

Here are the makeup trends to know:

Colourful eyes

Take us back to Studio 54. Think shades like deep purple, lavender, emerald, every shade of blue and lots of sparkles. Finish with a generous coat of black mascara.

Tip: if you're going for colourful statement eyes, keep your lips matte and muted to balance out your look.

Sharp lines

Expect to see a classic sharp black eyeliner (either a simple line, wings or a cat eye) together with lashings of mascara to add volume and drama. Try using Bright Stripe Eyeliner in Black - and make sure you sharpen that tip! Keep the rest of your makeup pared back using a subtle lip and cheek tint for a dewy flush of colour.

Lived in liner

At the other end of the spectrum, lived in liner is perfect if you haven’t yet mastered the wing.  It’s all about the smudged and smoked out finish (as though you are still wearing the liner from the night before). It’s moody and messy. Generously apply Black liner to your water line and top and bottom lids (making sure you get between the lashes). Then blend out with a small eyeshadow brush.

Tip: if black is too heavy for you it’s less scary in a softer shade like Chinotto or brown.

Au naturel

We have given our skin a lot of TLC throughout 2020 and are used to baring our fresh faces (freckles, lines, spots and all). And this winter will be no exception. Flaunt your skin with a little extra luminous glow. Simply apply High Glow to the inner corner of your eyes, brow bone, cheek bones or cupid’s bow to let your skin shine.
