Cork. The renewable plastic alternative.
The humble cork. It has been around since the 1600s, first used as a bottle stopper by Dom Pérignon for his famous champagne.
Cork has found its way into a wide range of uses—from bottle stoppers and flooring to wall coverings and even cricket balls. It's the bark of the cork oak tree, harvested in a completely renewable and sustainable way that doesn’t harm the tree. Even better, pure cork is compostable. You can break it down and toss it into your compost or use it as mulch in your garden.
That's why it made perfect sense for us to use a cork disc as an alternative to a plastic PE liner in the lids of our High Glow Highlighter Mousse. It ensures our aluminium lids are completely airtight, while keeping all of our packaging 100% plastic-free.
